How Sofwave works

Sofwave delivers ultrasound energy through the skin surface to heat the mid-dermis. This controlled heating stimulates a repair response and collagen remodelling over time. Integrated cooling helps protect the surface.

Sofwave offers a non-surgical option for improving skin firmness and selected facial lines. The right approach depends on the changes you’d like to see—we’ll help you understand what Sofwave can achieve for your skin.

Sofwave vs Ultherapy and HIFU

Comparing ultrasound treatments can feel confusing. Sofwave and Ultherapy are branded systems, while HIFU—high-intensity focused ultrasound—is a broader term used for different devices. They are not interchangeable treatments.

SofwaveUses synchronous parallel ultrasound beams to target the mid-dermis at approximately 1.5 mm. The aim is to stimulate collagen remodelling for selected facial lines and skin laxity, with integrated surface cooling.
UltherapyUses microfocused ultrasound with real-time ultrasound visualisation. Different transducers target depths including 1.5, 3.0 and 4.5 mm, allowing the practitioner to select treatment depths for the anatomy being assessed.
Other HIFU treatmentsDevices vary in their energy delivery, available depths and imaging capabilities. Ask which device is being used, what it is intended to treat and what evidence supports it.
Choosing for youA deeper treatment is not automatically a better treatment. Your anatomy, degree of laxity, previous procedures and goals matter more than choosing a device by name alone.

When will I see Sofwave results?

Is Sofwave suitable for you?

Tell your practitioner about medicines, pregnancy or breastfeeding, implanted devices, previous fillers and procedures, and any active skin problems. Treatment may need to be delayed or another approach recommended.
