Start with understanding

What causes dull-looking skin?

Dullness describes an appearance, rather than a diagnosis. Dryness, surface texture and uneven pigmentation can all play a part. More than one may be involved, so the best starting point is to look at your skin and the routine around it.

Dryness & discomfort

Tightness, flaking or sensitivity may be a sign your routine needs gentler support. Adding stronger exfoliants is not always the answer.

Texture & congestion

A rough surface or congestion can affect how smooth your skin looks and feels. We consider sensitivity and existing products before suggesting exfoliation. Explore pores and texture →

Uneven tone

Sun-related pigmentation and other pigment changes may contribute to an uneven appearance. They need a different approach from simple dryness. Explore pigmentation →

You do not need a whole new shelf of skincare.

Bring what you already use. We can work through what helps, what might be irritating your skin, and where a simpler routine could make life easier.

Your priorities matter too: comfort, a particular concern, an upcoming event, or a longer-term plan. We will talk about cost and recovery before you decide.

Dull skin treatment options in Sydney

The right option depends on what is contributing.

Assessment comes first. A treatment that suits one person may be unnecessary or irritating for another. Your practitioner will explain suitability, expected benefits, risks and recovery.

Hydration & surface care

HydraFacial, a tailored facial or an appropriate peel may be considered for surface concerns. The choice depends on your skin’s condition and tolerance. Explore HydraFacial →

Pigmentation & texture

Where uneven pigment or texture is part of the concern, we may discuss Pico laser or skin needling after assessment. Neither is an automatic next step for dullness. Explore Pico laser →

A routine that supports your skin

Gentle cleansing, suitable moisturiser and sun protection are the foundations. We can help you introduce other products gradually, with a reason for each addition. Explore our treatment menu →

Persistent itching, a rash or a sudden unexplained change should be medically assessed before cosmetic treatment.

What happens next

A clear plan, with room to adjust.

01 · Understand

We discuss your concerns, assess your skin and review your current routine. Skin imaging can help us document and discuss what we see.

02 · Choose together

We explain your options, fees and timing. You can start with home care, consider treatment, or take time to think.

03 · Review & maintain

We review how your skin responds and adjust the plan. Treatment frequency and maintenance are individual, rather than a fixed promise.

Getting ready for something special?

Tell us the date and whether a treatment is new to you. We will discuss recovery time and help you plan ahead, especially if your skin is sensitive.

There is no universal “perfect week” to book. The timing depends on the treatment, your skin and how it has responded before.

Thinking further ahead?

A Strategy Session with Dr. Amy Chahal brings skincare, skin treatments and cosmetic medicine planning into a broader conversation about ageing well and maintaining your skin over the years.

You can choose this if you have several concerns or want help deciding what to prioritise.

Your questions, answered.

Which treatment is best for dull skin?

It depends on the cause. Dry, sensitive skin may need barrier support first; congestion or pigmentation may call for a different approach. A Complexion Consultation helps you choose without guessing.

Will one facial be enough?

One treatment may address a short-term priority, but the response and duration vary. Ongoing concerns may benefit from changes to home care, further assessment or a treatment plan. We will explain what is realistic for you.

Can treatment happen at my consultation?

Treatment may be possible on the day, depending on your assessment, suitability and appointment availability. Treatment costs are discussed separately; booking a consultation does not guarantee treatment that day.

Is there downtime?

Recovery varies with the treatment and your skin. Redness, sensitivity or peeling may occur with some options. Your practitioner will explain likely recovery and aftercare before you decide.

Should I exfoliate more often?

Not necessarily. Too much exfoliation can irritate skin, particularly when it is already dry or sensitive. Bring your products to the consultation so we can review how they work together.
