SkinCeuticals Chemical Peel

Gentle medical peel · brightness without downtime

A controlled, gentler peel that brightens and smooths without visible flaking. It is the sensible starting point, and for a lot of people it is also the finishing point.

What it does

A measured blend of acids lifts the outermost layer of dead cells and stimulates renewal beneath. The strength is deliberately restrained, which is why skin looks brighter within days without the obvious shedding a stronger peel produces.

That restraint is the point. For dullness, early textural change and general maintenance, a gentler peel repeated regularly outperforms an aggressive one done occasionally.

It will not clear established pigmentation, treat scarring or firm anything. If that is what you need, we will tell you and point you at the treatment that does.

Which peel, and why

We use two peel systems, and they suit different skin and different tolerance for recovery.

  SkinCeuticals ZO Skin Health
Strength Gentler, more controlled Stronger, more active
Best for Dullness, early texture change, first-time peels Congestion, pigmentation, more established texture change
Visible peeling Minimal — often none Likely, days 2–5
Downtime None to speak of Around a day of sensitivity, then flaking
Preparation None required Often needs skin prepared beforehand
Choose it when You want brightness with no visible recovery You will accept flaking for a bigger result

If you want a bigger change and can accept a few days of flaking, the stronger option may suit you better. Read about the ZO peel.

What it is used for

What to expect, realistically

  1. On the dayAround 30 minutes. Mild tingling. Skin may look slightly pink immediately afterwards.
  2. Days 1 to 3Brightness improves. Any flaking is usually fine and easily managed with moisturiser.
  3. Weeks 1 to 4Texture and clarity continue to improve. A course gives noticeably more than one treatment.
  4. OngoingSuits regular repetition. Many people have one every four to six weeks as maintenance.

Fees

Quoted in writing at your assessment. If a course is the sensible approach we will tell you the expected number and total before you commit.

When we would not recommend it

If your concern is established pigmentation, scarring or laxity, this peel will not deliver it and we would rather say so than book you a course.

Active infection, broken skin and certain medications are reasons to postpone.

All medical procedures carry risk, and individual results vary. Suitability is determined at assessment, not on the phone.

Common questions

Will I peel?

Usually only lightly, and often not visibly. That is the point of this peel.

Can I have it before an event?

Yes — it is one of the few active treatments that suits the week before. Two to three days beforehand is ideal.

How often can I have one?

Every four to six weeks is a common maintenance rhythm.

Does it hurt?

Mild tingling for a few minutes. Most people find it entirely comfortable.

Is it worth it if it is gentle?

For brightness, texture and maintenance, yes, particularly repeated. For structural concerns, no — and we will tell you which you have.

How is it different from the ZO peel?

It is gentler, needs no preparation and produces little visible flaking. The comparison table above sets out how we choose.

A sensible place to start

If a gentle peel is all you need, that is what we will recommend. If it is not enough, you will hear that too.
