Dr Amy Chahal · Surry Hills, Sydney
A subtle lift. A plan that considers the whole face.
Minimally invasive thread lifting uses dissolvable suspension threads to reposition selected facial tissues. For appropriate patients, it may improve early changes in cheek position or jawline definition while keeping your individual features in focus.
At TCMA, Dr Amy Chahal assesses your skin, facial structure and goals to decide how thread lifting could fit your care.

Understanding the procedure
Suspension threads are placed beneath the skin through small entry points. Their design allows selected tissues to be repositioned and supported. The threads are absorbable, and the visible effect is temporary.
The aim is a modest improvement in contour where tissue descent is contributing to your concern. Thread lifting does not remove excess skin or replace lost facial volume, so the assessment looks at more than the area you want lifted.
Thread design, placement and your tissue characteristics all matter. Dr Chahal explains the proposed approach, likely degree of change, recovery and alternatives before you decide.
Thread lifting may suit selected patients with mild to moderate tissue descent who would like a subtle, temporary lift. Skin quality, tissue weight, previous procedures and your expectations help determine suitability.
When a change in tissue position contributes to a less defined mid-face contour.
When descent contributes to a softer jawline and a modest repositioning could address your concern.
Some presentations may be considered after assessing skin, tissue and the degree of laxity.
A small change in brow position may be discussed where the anatomy and goals are suitable.
If volume loss, substantial excess skin or heavier tissues are the main issue, another approach may be more useful. Explore skin laxity and facial balance before your visit.
The best starting point is what has changed in your face. Each option addresses different concerns and involves a different recovery.
| Option | Main approach | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Thread lifting | Repositions selected tissues using suspension threads. | May suit a modest lift; results are temporary and suitability depends on your tissue and skin. |
| FaceTite | Uses radiofrequency beneath the skin for selected laxity and localised fullness. | A minimally invasive contouring procedure with its own recovery and risks. |
| Skin treatments | Target concerns such as texture or skin quality, depending on the treatment. | May complement a plan but do not provide the same tissue repositioning. |
| Surgical facelift | Repositions tissues and can remove excess skin. | A different degree of change and recovery; surgical referral may be appropriate. |
Local anaesthetic is used before thread placement. You may feel pressure or pulling. The planned area and technique determine the appointment length.
Allow for swelling, bruising, tenderness and tightness. Arrange flexibility around work and social plans, and follow the care instructions for your treatment.
Healing continues over the following weeks. Your team will explain restrictions on pressure, facial movement and exercise, and when to attend review.
Review your result as it settles. Changes in your face continue over time; further treatment is considered around your response, priorities and risks.
Contact your treating team promptly about worsening pain, increasing redness, discharge, exposed threads or other unexpected changes. Persistent dimpling or asymmetry should be reviewed.
Fees explained
From $2,200
At TCMA, the procedure fee depends on the number and type of threads and your individual plan. A written quote is provided after assessment, before you commit to treatment.
Consultations are charged separately: $150 for a Focused Consultation or $250 for a Strategy Session. These consultation fees are not redeemable against treatment.
Thread lifting can be one part of a broader plan to help you look like yourself over time. Your consultation considers facial balance, skin quality and the features you want to preserve alongside the change you hope to see.
Discuss past procedures and future plans with Dr Amy Chahal, including any surgery you may be considering. The sequence and timing of treatments should be tailored to you.
For several concerns or a longer-term roadmap, choose a Strategy Session. Our facial ageing guide explains why skin, fat and structure are considered together.
Possible risks include bruising, swelling, pain, infection, dimpling, visible or palpable threads, thread extrusion, asymmetry and an unsatisfactory result. Discomfort or irregularities may persist and further treatment may be needed.
Dr Chahal reviews your medical history, medicines, skin condition and previous procedures, then discusses the risks relevant to your proposed treatment. Results vary. Your assessment and decision come before treatment, with time to consider your options.

A thread lift is a minimally invasive procedure that uses dissolvable suspension threads beneath the skin to reposition selected facial tissues. It may improve mild to moderate tissue descent, with a temporary result that varies between patients.
Thread lifting at TCMA starts from $2,200, depending on the number and type of threads and your treatment plan. You receive an individual written quote after assessment. A Focused Consultation costs $150 and a Strategy Session costs $250; consultation fees are separate and not redeemable against treatment.
Results are temporary. Duration depends on the threads, placement, tissue characteristics and continuing ageing. The time a thread takes to dissolve is not the same as how long a visible lift lasts. Dr Chahal will discuss the expected duration for your proposed procedure and review your response.
Allow for swelling, bruising, tenderness and tightness, especially during the first week. Some effects can persist for longer and healing can take several weeks. Your treating team will explain when to return to work, exercise and usual activities, and how to care for the area.
Local anaesthetic is used. You may still feel pressure, pulling or discomfort during placement, and soreness afterwards. Your consultation covers pain relief and aftercare.
Thread lifting may offer a modest lift without removing excess skin. A surgical facelift repositions tissues and can remove excess skin, producing a different degree of change. If surgery is more likely to meet your goals, Dr Chahal can discuss referral.
No. The material, design and placement of threads matter. Suspension threads are designed to reposition tissue; smooth threads do not provide the same mechanical lift. Ask which thread is proposed, why it suits your concern, and what results and risks to expect.
Yes, where appropriate. Dr Chahal can consider thread lifting alongside skin quality, facial balance and future treatment goals. The timing of other procedures needs individual planning, and repeat thread lifting is considered after reviewing your response and risks.
