Collagen stimulating injections

…Rebuilding Your Skin Health

Aesthetic concerns are often multifaceted, which is why it is important to find a medical aesthetic provider who has both the tools and the experience to effectively address multiple causes simultaneously. At TCMA, collagen stimulating injectables are just that — a way to treat multiple underlying causes while focusing on rebuilding the structure of the skin itself.

For patients going through the normal ageing process, these injectables can be a great place to start your aesthetic journey.

Our Philosophy

The Centre for Medical Aesthetics operates on one paramount tenet: your aesthetic journey is as important as any other medical venture you embark on. Your concerns aren’t “just cosmetic.” Aesthetic care is still care, and we promise to treat them with equal gravitas.

Are Collagen Stimulating Injectables Right for Me?

Summary:

  • Are you experiencing skin laxity, volume loss, or wrinkling?
  • Do you have realistic expectations about what collagen stimulating injectables can achieve?
  • Have you done thorough research on the treatment?
  • Have you seen enough before and after photos?

Collagen stimulating injections focus primarily on treating skin laxity (sagging skin), but they are also useful for concerns like volume loss and the subsequent wrinkling. If you find yourself dealing with any of these issues, it is worth looking into this injectable option.

We always let our patients know that realistic expectations are key to long-term treatment satisfaction. If you’ve carefully reviewed before-and-after photos and thoroughly researched the injectable process, you’re setting yourself up for success since you will have a much better idea of what to expect from your results.

While collagen stimulating injections offer meaningful improvements, everyone’s results are unique, so measure your progress against your own starting point, not against someone else’s journey.

Understanding the Collagen Stimulating Injectable Process

At our practice, our first and foremost goal is to make sure you feel comfortable and confident about the decision to have a treatment performed. We won’t encourage you to have anything done that you aren’t ready for or undergo any procedure that we don’t think will ultimately get you closer to your ideal results.

  • We will conduct a thorough medical review and examination.
  • We aren’t focused on selling you, we are focusing on helping you.
  • Your consultation is immensely important — make the most of it.
  • We are your partner, regardless of your treatment decision.

Your consultation with Dr. Amy and the TCMA team is more than just a pitch — it’s a chance to really dive into your skin’s unique needs. We’ll start by reviewing your medical history and discussing your specific aesthetic goals. Are you noticing fine lines deepening? A loss of that plumpness in your cheeks? This in-depth chat helps us pinpoint whether collagen stimulating injectables could be the solution you’re looking for.

Our priority isn’t to push procedures on you. We’re all about building a trusting relationship where you feel empowered to make informed decisions. That means being upfront;  if we see a better treatment path for you, we’ll recommend it. Maybe it’s a different type of injectable, a tailored skincare routine, or even something you can find over the counter.

Remember, your consultation is an extremely valuable asset. Write down all your questions and bring them with you. No question is too frivolous or a waste of time. Our aim is to make sure you leave feeling confident about your choices. And even if you decide to hold off on treatment for now, that’s totally okay. We’ll welcome you back with open arms the next time you’re interested in exploring your aesthetic journey.

How to Prepare for Your Collagen Stimulating Injectable

Collagen-stimulating injectables are easier than many other procedures to prepare for. This often includes temporarily stopping any medications or supplements that could increase bruising. In the days leading up to your appointment, skip any harsh scrubs or exfoliants to avoid irritation. Remember your sunscreen — sun exposure can heighten skin sensitivity, so apply SPF 30 or higher diligently in the days leading up to your treatment.

The Collagen Stimulating Injectable Process

Summary:

  • The targeted area will be thoroughly cleaned.
  • A small needle will be inserted into your tissue.
  • Inflammation processes will be initiated under the skin
  • Great option for busy schedules, completed in under an hour.

On the day of your treatment, the injection area will be meticulously cleaned. Our team might use a topical anesthetic to numb the area to maximise your comfort. Then, the procedure involves carefully injecting the collagen stimulating product using a fine needle.

The substance will “damage” the surrounding tissue and trigger the body’s natural healing response, which includes flooding the area with collagen, elastin, and other healing factors. Additionally, some volume is added back into the face, helping bolster the results even more slightly. The specific injection pattern and technique will be customized to best achieve the effects you desire.

The entire process generally takes under an hour, with the timeframe varying depending on the size of the treatment area. This makes it a great option for people with busy schedules or working professionals on their lunch break.

Collagen Stimulating Injectable Results

Unlike traditional dermal fillers that provide instant plumping and volume, collagen-stimulating injectables take a more subtle and natural approach. They work by stimulating your body's own collagen-producing mechanisms while also providing modest improvements to volume. This means not all your results will be noticeable immediately, but they will gradually unfold over weeks or even months. At this point, you'll start to notice a smoother skin texture, improved firmness, and a softening of wrinkles. Multiple treatment sessions may be recommended to achieve your ideal aesthetic goals, but a single treatment should last anywhere from six to 12 months.

Let’s Talk: Frequently Asked Questions

Think of collagen as the inner structure of your skin. This protein acts like internal scaffolding, providing structure, firmness, and a plump appearance.  It’s what keeps our skin looking smooth and taut. Unfortunately, our body’s natural collagen production starts taking a nosedive in our twenties.  This slowdown becomes even more pronounced as the years go by.  The result?  Skin that loses its firmness and begins to sag.

As we age, several changes contribute to a less youthful appearance. One potential cause is the loss of facial volume. This occurs for two main reasons:

  • Fat Redistribution: Over time, the fat that gives our faces a plump, youthful look shifts and diminishes. This change can make our cheeks appear sunken and contribute to a look we associate with ageing.
  • Collagen Decline: Collagen is the protein that acts like scaffolding, keeping our skin firm. Sadly, collagen production starts declining in our twenties and accelerates as we get older. This, combined with volume loss, leads to that classic “deflated” appearance.

Not all wrinkles are created equal. Here’s the breakdown:

  • Static Wrinkles:  These are always visible and primarily caused by things like volume loss and decreased collagen production. Examples include smile lines and marionette lines.

Dynamic Wrinkles: These appear only when you make specific facial expressions, caused by repeated muscle contractions. Think crow’s feet, frown lines, forehead creases, and even lines around your lips.

Collagen stimulating injectables, like most procedures, come with some potential side effects. The most common include temporary swelling, bruising, redness, and tenderness at the injection sites.  Less frequently, you might notice small lumps or bumps under the skin. While extremely rare,  there’s also a very slight risk of infection, allergic reaction, or issues related to the product inadvertently blocking a blood vessel.

To minimize these risks, it’s crucial to choose an experienced, qualified injector like those at TCMA. Before your treatment, fully disclose your medical history to ensure collagen stimulating injectables are right for you.

Right after your treatment, expect some temporary swelling and redness — this is perfectly normal and fades within a few days. Apply ice packs (wrapped in a cloth) to manage swelling and ease discomfort. Avoid touching the treated areas and hold off on makeup for a few hours to let your skin breathe.

In the following days, be gentle with your skin. Skip harsh products or exfoliants. Hydration is important, so drink plenty of water. Sun protection is imperative, so always wear sunscreen. Take a break from intense exercise, saunas, or hot tubs for the first day or two to minimize swelling. You might notice small bumps, which usually go away on their own. If you have unusual bruising, ongoing pain, or any signs of infection, contact our office immediately.
