Chemical peels can be described in two very simple adjectives: unique and effective. While many treatments like light therapies and injectables rely on a handful of technologies, chemical peels — specifically those by SkinCeuticals — pave a new, familiar path toward achieving meaningful aesthetic results.

While many people are familiar with the idea of doing facial masks or peels, these medical-grade options are different. They use very specific compounds to trigger healing in the facial tissue and provide correction well beyond what anyone could achieve with a home kit. For that reason, TCMA is excited to offer these as an option to their patients.

Our Philosophy

The Centre for Medical Aesthetics operates on one paramount tenet: your aesthetic journey is as important as any other medical venture you embark on. Your concerns aren’t “just cosmetic.” Aesthetic care is still care, and we promise to treat them with equal gravitas.

Why Might Someone Consider a SkinCeuticals Chemical Peel?

There are many textural and tonal concerns that a chemical peel can address without the need for invasive treatment:

  • Blemishing
  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Tonal concerns
  • Skin luminosity

If you would like to see if one of our SkinCeuticals chemical peels can help address your concerns, then the next step is to set up a consultation with our office.

Are SkinCeuticals Chemical Peels Right for Me?

Summary:

  • Do you have realistic expectations?
  • Have you done your research?
  • Are you experiencing any discolouration?
  • Are you experiencing any textural concerns?

We offer three types of chemical peels to our patients:

Micropeel Sensitive

30 minutes

This is an introductory or superficial peel for people with sensitive skin or minor skin concerns.

Pigment Balancing Peel

45 minutes

This is an intermediate peel for people who are looking to address more significant discolouration.

Strong Peel

45 minutes

This is a deep peel for people dealing with oily or congested skin and pores.

Figuring out which peel is right for you depends on various factors, including your skin type, specific skin concerns, Fitzpatrick skin type, and existing skincare habits.

Superficial peels, which affect only the top layer of the skin, are typically used for addressing fine lines and wrinkles, especially around the eyes and mouth. The SkinCeuticals Micropeel Sensitive is designed for gentle exfoliation, making it perfect for sensitive skin types with minimal downtime.

Medium-depth peels, like the Pigment Balancing Peel, target more significant skin damage such as age spots and freckles. On the other hand, deep chemical peels, like our Strong peel, penetrate further into the skin and are known for their aggressive treatment.

Regardless of your chemical peel strength, however, you should research the treatment thoroughly to understand what it can achieve. This will help you formulate realistic expectations about the treatment and avoid becoming disappointed by an otherwise successful treatment.

Understanding the SkinCeuticals Chemical Peels Process

At our practice, our first and foremost goal is to make sure you feel comfortable and confident about the decision to have a treatment performed. We won’t encourage you to have anything done that you aren’t ready for or undergo any procedure that we don’t think will ultimately get you closer to your ideal results.

A Consultation with The Centre for Medical Aesthetics

Summary:

  • We aren’t trying to sell you on a chemical peel.
  • Your consultation is an immensely valuable resource.
  • Even if you don’t sign up for treatment, we are your partner.

When you come to TCMA, we want you to know that our goal isn’t to convince you to sign up for a treatment. We want you to feel comfortable with the entire process and ultimately come to a conclusion that makes you feel confident. If we believe a treatment isn’t a good fit for your goals, we won’t recommend it, but we’d be happy to offer alternatives. It’s even possible we will tell you that you don’t need any procedure performed.

We always tell our patients to make the most of their consultation time by coming in with a list of questions and concerns. This way, nothing is forgotten or overlooked because of the excitement of the consultation, and you can leave feeling fully informed and educated about the treatment and how it can be used on your appearance.

How to Prepare for Your SkinCeuticals Chemical Peels

As a noninvasive treatment, there is no preparation process you need to worry about. Just make sure to come to the treatment with clean, makeup-free skin and you will be ready. We recommend avoiding excessive sun exposure and other harsh skin treatments leading up to your procedure to avoid any unnecessary pain and discomfort.

The SkinCeuticals Chemical Peels Process

Summary:

  • Your face will be thoroughly cleansed and prepared for the peel.
  • The chemical peel will be applied and removed once the treatment is complete.
  • The entire process will take between 45 minutes and an hour based on your treatment.

SkinCeuticals chemical peels are a very straightforward process. Your skin is cleaned, and then the chemical solution is applied to the skin and left for the appropriate duration. Once the solution is removed, the treatment is technically complete, aside from the exfoliation that will happen over a few days. The entire process takes under an hour, making it a great option for people with busy schedules. You will need to have maintenance appointments in order to maintain optimal results.

SkinCeuticals Chemical Peels Results

The chemical peel will cause the skin to become flaky and peel over the course of two to three days. Once this process has finished, though, the results of the chemical peel will reveal themselves, but even more improvement will occur over the course of several weeks as the healing process continues.

Many of our patients find improvements to both textural and tonal skin concerns. Results typically last for a few months, depending on your level of treatment and correction.

You Can Trust Us

We know that finding someone you can trust and rely on in the medical aesthetics space is difficult, which is why we put such a high importance on earning and deserving your trust every step of the way.

Let’s Talk: Frequently Asked Questions

Let’s Talk About Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are treatments used to improve the skin’s appearance by removing its outer layers. They help reduce blemishes, fine lines, wrinkles, and enhance skin tone. During a peel, a specific amount of a chemical solution is applied to the skin. The amount used and how long it stays on your skin depends on the peel type, how strong it is, your skin type, and how your skin reacts.

The peel solution breaks down the bonds between dead skin cells on the surface, allowing them to be washed away. This reveals smoother, healthier skin beneath. Depending on the peel, it might stop working on its own or need to be washed off with a special solution or water to stop the reaction.

The aim of a chemical peel is to gently injure the skin in a controlled way, triggering the body’s natural healing response. When the skin heals, it is flooded with collagen, elastin, and other healing factors, granting it an improved appearance.

What Risks Are Associated with SkinCeuticals Chemical Peels?

Superficial chemical peels might cause a tingling feeling on the skin, but this minor discomfort usually goes away once the peel is neutralized. A numbing cream might be used to ease the sensation during the treatment for deeper peels. Typically, patients who regularly use acid-based skincare products may find they better tolerate stronger peel formulations.

After a chemical peel, the skin can become red, resembling a mild sunburn, and this can last from three to five days for superficial peels. Medium to deep peels can cause more significant redness, swelling, and even blistering or peeling for about one to two weeks.

Are There Any Post-Treatment Instructions to Follow?

Applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily after a peel and limiting sun exposure is crucial to protect the newly sensitive skin and avoid sunburn or irritation. In some cases, over-the-counter pain medication can be used to mitigate the effects of the skin peel, but most of our patients are able to tolerate it with very little assistance.
