What is beauty?

Welcome to my first blog post! I hope this is an area we can share our thoughts and ideas, and I will do my best to keep you at the forefront of this exciting and evolving industry!

To begin – what is beauty?

This is an interesting question on many fronts. Truly there is no single answer and the definition is fluid from person to person, culture to culture, era to era. Indeed if we analyze what supermodels looked like in the 70s to now, the changes would be dramatic. What is beautiful at every age? The answer is it changes, it depends…

For me, this is a constant question – patients want to feel and look beautiful and turn to me to help achieve this. I think the answer lies within the individual. What is beautiful and appealing to the aesthetic eye often has to do with ideal proportions and contours (the textbook answer). These are unique to each person. For example, the space between my eyes and the length between my upper lip and chin are unique to me – I cannot use these same measurements when deciding the treatment that would best optimise you. But really- beauty is the whole package. Your attitude – do you have grace, are you kind, are you humble – and your confidence. If you have those things you are off to a really great start, and at the end of the day – beauty lies in the eye of the beholder.
